Multiple Calendars

For those that use my Calendar for WordPress you may be interested to know about a modification by “Ben in Campus” that has been written for it that enables several calendars to be made visible and have events added to them but using only one install of my plugin on one install of WordPress. It’s an innovative idea and one that a couple of people who have e-mailed me in the past asking for such a feature will most certainly find useful.

The same database table is used as previously but a column has been added allowing the storage to denote which calendar a particular event has input. Ben has also fixed a couple of bugs which have been on my to-do list for a little while, so they will be incorporated along with a credit to Ben in the next release, which is actually coming really rather soon so keep an eye out here and on wordpress.org

    I am trying to install the revised calendar from Ben, but unfortunately I have a very basic ISP package – no access to the database tables.

    I’d like to speak in favor ofthe multiple calendars. I primarily am interested in using the plugin for our family website. Calendars would be use for meal planning, soccer schedules, personal schedules, and so on. It would be nice to have a master calendar that has the potential to sum up all sub calendars – or to have a master calendar that can be sorted by event type (soccer games, refereeing, meals, etc.)

    I appreciate what you have provided.

    I’m afraid I can’t help with installing Ben’s version or getting it working.

    I have noted your thoughts on multiple Calendars, but it is unlikely this will make it into the official version. Lots of tasty features are planned and will be released soon.

    As a compromise I might document the exact process of altering my release to work like Ben’s or provide some kind of patch.

    As a rule though demand for multiple Calendars is low as people usually like to see all events in one place so they can avoid conflicts. Categories of events (with colours) are coming in the next version, so should helps you group your events by type much better without needing actualy multiple calendar displays.

    I have installed Ben’s version of the calendar. I also wanted some events to appear on all calendars so I made a mod to the php so category 1 events appear on all. Thanks

    I have installed the calendar, but I don’t understand how set up more than one calendar to show different events on each calendar. Can you please explain. Thanks.

    Hello,

    For our Friends Meeting website, we would like to have more than one calendar.

    I have found Ben’s blog, but unless I am missing something, all the links to download his revised version for multiple calendars go to each other; I am unable to find an actual download link that downloads something. Would it be possible for you to please send me that link for the download? Or at least a link to a readme file that explains everything?

    I can make changes via PHPmyAdmin, but I am unsure of exactly how to proceed. I see that I should add a field to WP_Calendar, but then what? Do I need to put “0” and “1” into the ID field? How to designate which calendar? is it something like {CALENDAR ID=0} and {CALENDAR ID=1}?

    Thanks so much! We really appreciate your calendar so much!!
