Webhost forum down
One of my webhost’s forums (yes, I don’t host all my sites myself) has been closed while “issues” are being resolved with some recent server moves with some of their other clients, but it is worrying for me because it shows they have had to close their main support arm in order to try and cope because they are being bombarded with requests for help with crippled sites after the move.
When they put the forum back online I am going to be asking them some serious questions about why they cut their customers off from them and other customers in this way, as the community is one of the most important attributes of their business. If they don’t provide satisfactory answers I may well be moving a few sites away from their servers.
Things really have gone from bad to worse today….

to me i can’t agree with closing the forum.
people were getting hysterical anyway because of the lack of feedback and communication. so what did he do?
cut off the LAST possible means for people to share their feelings and let off some steam!
i find that incredible and very shortsighted. yes it will remove that feeling of someone looking over his shoulder and constantly ‘pestering’ him. but he may well find that some people have permanently moved when the forum is eventually re-instated.

i don’t know about you but he hasn’t had any hosting fees from me for ages!

I know what you mean about the hosting fees, I was down the pub tonight! 😀
But yeah, closing the forum was very short sighted; one of the people who may have permanently moved when it comes back online is me, and I’m one of their longest standing customers – I was there literally a few days after Gordon went public with the company. His loss is all I can say; I go where there is a friendly face and reliable service and bring my friendly nature and personal support with it. I wish he realised that when he closed the forums 🙁
