					<description>I was meaning for my hosting server which doesn't support SSL for FTP ;)

In your case you will want to enter that command at the lftp prompt before authenticating when using my server and then turn it off after.</description>

My rather bizarre issue atm though is that lftp is claiming not to be able to find files to download, even though they appear in a directory listing.</description>
