The street light replacement is a city wide thing.

It is a little suprised they didn't put barriers up for pedestrians, this is common place in the rest of Leeds. Maybe they just want to reduce the student population in road accidents lol.

What?! Thats awful!
When they were building this new apartment complex in Lincoln they were using the path, so they put some barriers on the road so we could walk past without getting run over!
Crazyness!

I agree. Dan was also saying to me today that it makes the use of prams etc. particularly difficult. Apparently this street light issue is not just happening in Hyde Park but over in Woodhouse too.

The council are replacing the street lights to provide better lighting in Hyde Park. A side effect of removing and then (not) replacing them has been, quite ironically, darker streets. I noticed that a huge stretch of Hyde Park Road is completely unlit at night.

As this road borders the park itself, which is also dark, it seems this is a mugging blackspot waiting to happen if the new lights aren't installed soon.
